Chapel at the Russian military cemetery, Mourmelon le Grand, Marne (©www.greatwar.co.uk)This is a military cemetery for Russian soldiers killed on The Western Front in 1914-1918. It is cared for by the French Government.

The cemetery contains the remains of 1,000 Russian officers and soldiers. In 1937 a chapel was built at the site to commemorate the memory of the 4,000 Russians who died on French soil fighting for France. The chapel was designed by the architect Albert Benois.
