Ypres Town Historical Background

Ypres - now known by its Flemish name of Ieper - is an ancient town located in West-Vlaanderen in Belgium.

11th November Armistice Day Commemorations in Ypres (Ieper)

11th November is a public holiday in Belgium. To mark the anniversary of Armistice Day, 11th November 1918, commemorative events are held each year in Ieper (Ypres): a Service of Remembrance, the Poppy Parade, an official parade with standards and bands, and a special Last Post ceremony is held at The Menin Gate Memorial.
