The International Guild of Battlefield Guides (GBG)

The International Guild of Battlefield Guides was inaugurated in 2003. It's aim is to analyse, develop and raise the understanding and practice of battlefield guiding.

The organization has many members, over 40 of whom have passed the Guild's validation programme as battlefield tour guides. A number of commercial battlefield tour companies are affiliated to the Guild and some of their guides are “Badged Guides” with the Guild.

One of the people behind this website at greatwar.co.uk is Lieutenant Colonel Graham Parker, OBE, Retd., who is an Honorary Member of the Guild of Battlefield Guides. As one of the pioneers of the modern battlefield tours to the Western Front Graham organized battlefield tours for military, private and public groups from 1980 to 2000. Graham and his daughter, Joanna, founded and operated Flanders Tours for 12 of those years. Graham still acts as a guide for occasional private tours to the Western Front.
