[11 rooms] Kasteelhof 't Hooghe is situated on the north side of the Menin Road, 3 kilometres east of Ypres / Ieper. When the British arrived in the Ypres area in the early weeks of the war in the autumn of 1914 the Kasteelhof 't Hooghe chateau was taken over by the British Army as a headquarters. It was owned by Baron de Vinck. The chateau was captured by the Germans in May 1915. The British took it over again in July 1917 during the Third Battle of Ypres (the Battle of Passchendaele) but it was lost again to the German Army in the spring of 1918. The British finally recaptured what was left of the ruins of the building in the autumn of 1918. The grounds of the chateau were the scene of underground mining, flamethrower attacks and heavy fighting during the First World War. The Kasteelhof 't Hooghe was rebuilt after the war ended in 1918.

Within a few minutes' walk from the hotel there are two places of First World War interest, namely, The Hooge Crater Museum and the Hooge Crater Military Cemetery.
